My name is Sharon Jenkins. I started in the pet care industry in 2000 when I struggled to find pet care within a home environment for my dog. There wasn’t anything around and so decided to set up my own business. I did not want to use Boarding Kennels as felt that was such a cold, alien environment for him and thought that all animals deserved to be cared for in their own home while their owners were away whether it was for business or holiday. Safe and Hound came about in its present form in 2003 and continues to be successful under a fabulous team.

Meet The Team
Laura
I have always had an interest in animals and was brought up with dogs, fish, rabbits and budgies. I started work with Safe and Hound over two years ago after finishing three years at college, studying animal care, beauty therapy and travel & tourism.I quickly found out, it isn’t just a job, it’s a lifestyle! We are one big family and we care for our customer’s pets as our own. I often house sit and look after the dogs that board with us and put a lot of love and care into what I do.
I work full time dog walking and pet feeding as well as house sitting and working behind the scenes to help ensure everything runs smoothly.
Clare
I am a compassionate and dedicated animal lover with years of experience in the care and management of a wide variety of pets. My lifelong connection with animals began in childhood, where I was surrounded by cats, dogs, small mammals, horses, and ponies, fostering a deep understanding of their diverse needs. As a professional dog walker, I am skilled at handling dogs of all breeds, temperaments, and sizes, ensuring their safety and happiness on every walk. My keen eye for behavior allows me to quickly adapt to each dog’s unique needs, whether that involves high-energy play, leisurely strolls, or focused training exercises. I absolutely love my job and take immense pride in providing the best possible care for every animal I look after. I treat each owner’s pet as if they were my own, building strong bonds and ensuring they feel safe, loved, and well-cared for in my hands. I also have extensive experience caring for cats, small mammals, reptiles, and birds. I am proficient in tasks such as feeding, grooming, administering medication, and providing enrichment activities to keep animals mentally stimulated. Additionally, I excel at identifying early signs of distress or illness, offering owners peace of mind that their pets are in capable and compassionate hands.
Chloe
I am a part time worker currently studying for my PhD. I chose this job as I have always had a passion and love for animals. I have had pets all my life including dogs, hamsters, fish, guinea pigs and rabbits. I currently have two dogs, one of which is a feisty jack Russell cross.
My partner has a one year old Labrador and they have become great friends and enjoy going on adventures together. It is a privilege to work with animals and I always look forward to seeing the happy smiles and waggy tails

I started work with safe and hound in November 2023 part -time and I absolutely love my job and working with our team . There is nothing better than being greeted by a happy pet and I treat all the animals in our care as if they were my own .
I currently have four French bulldogs and a parrot but I adore all animals and thoroughly enjoy meeting all the cats , doggies , ducks , chickens and other animals and of course the pet owners too.

Nora and Nancy my two cheeky dachshunds have become my unofficial mascots for the business and always remind me why I continue to champion the welfare of every animal.

One of our most used accessory is our mobile pet shower, perfect for giving your furry friends a quick and thorough clean after a muddy walk.
